Coach Donnie Wilson

Former Giant
centerfielder Donnie Wilson is in his 3rd year as an assistant coach on
the COS staff. His main duty is working with the outfielders and
recruiting. Since coaching under Jody Allen, Donnie has been to Beijing,
China in the Fall of 2008 as an Envoy Coach with Major League Baseball.
He spent the summer of 2009 in North Carolina as an assistant for the
Asheboro Copperheads in the Coastal Plain League, which is one of the
top collegiate summer leagues in the country. He is now the head coach
for the Copperheads for the summer of 2010.
Donnie graduated from
Tulare Union High School in 2002, where he was the Senior Male Athlete
of the Year and all league in football, soccer, and baseball. While at
COS he was named second team all conference in 2004 and 2005 as an
outfielder.
After COS he moved on to
play at Division I baseball at Western Carolina University, earning his
B.S. degree in History. In conference play as a junior he led the team
in on base percentage (.479, 5th in conference), walks (16) and was
third in average (.360). During his senior year WCU finished top 5 in
the nation in runs and top 10 in hits, doubles, home runs, and slugging
percentage. Donnie helped WCU win the 2007 Regular Season Southern
Conference Championship, earning them a spot in the 2007 NCAA
Tournament. As the centerfielder at the Chapel Hill Regional he hit .333
and helped his team to the championship game where they lost to the
College World Series runner up North Carolina, 6-5.
Donnie earned his M.S.
degree in Physical Education/ Exercise and Sport Science online at the
University of Central Missouri graduating in May of 2009.
