STEP

Steps 2-4 Are Required For New Students Prior To Their Second Semester Of Registration

Required

Complete a COS Web Application
 

Submit an Admissions application using
CCCApply  (statewide online admissions application for California Community Colleges). 
Submit the application online and print a copy of the confirmation page for your records.

Make sure your name reads the same on both the Application and Orientation Form.

By 2nd Semester 

Complete COS Web Orientation - You must complete STEP 1 prior to orientation

New students pursuing a certificate/degree/transfer program are required to complete an online
orientation. Click here to view the Orientation Video

Students will earn .5 unit of credit and will be charged the appropriate unit cost

Required By 2nd Semester

Take the COS Placement Test   You must complete STEP 1 prior to testing

All students registering for math or English classes and/or pursuing a certificate/degree/transfer program will need to take the placement test. Call 730-3737 to schedule a time to take the placement test in Room 157 on the Visalia campus or call 585-3933 for the Hanford campus.

Required By 2nd Semester

Meet with a COS Counselor  

New students pursuing a certificate/degree/transfer program are required to see a COS counselor for academic counseling and a Student Education Plan.  Call 730-3741/730-3715 or call 585-3933 for the Hanford campus to schedule an appointment.

Register for COS classes *  You must complete STEP 1 prior to registering

Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as early as possible

Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or pick up FAFSA forms in the Financial Aid Office (Room 105) or the Hanford Center, see the reverse side of this form for further financial aid information and deadline.

Check your schedule for accuracy on BanWeb  

If you are under 21, request the last high school attended to send one transcript of work completed or attempted.  If applicable, have G.E.D.scores or a copy of the California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) sent to the Admissions and Records Office. Send one completed transcript of work attempted from each college attended, whether or not credit was earned to the COS Admissions & Records Office.Transcripts are to be official copies sent directly from previous schools to the College of the Sequoias.
